On July 1 we colonists land in Santa Cruz. We’re excited and frightened of what we might find. I’m hoping that the Native Americans will supplies food for us. When we left England we didn’t bring lots of supplies with us. I’ve been here about a week and there’s no sign of the Native Americans. I’m getting bit left and right by mosquitoes that are around the swamp area. Soldiers from are group are building a fort to protect us from the animals, rain, and possibly enemy tribes. The only recourses around this area are nasty, unhealthy water and green fruits. Everyone who ate the green fruit got very ill so I’d rather eat dirt that that stuff. Some other people got lucky and found a huge tortoise out by the bay. I could go for some tortoise meat right now, I’m starving. Each day is getting worse for us and the only thing we can us is our hope to find better recourses.
